Sky High: Repairing and Restoring Your Roof

Welcome to my blog, my name is Daisy. A few years ago, my husband and I purchased an old house which required a lot of work. We spent many weeks gutting the place and installing new flooring, painting the walls and clearing the garage space of junk. However, my favourite part of renovating the house was the roof. I loved climbing onto the roof to inspect the tiles, removing and recycling the broken ones and replacing the gaps with new tiles. I also learnt how to waterproof and maintain our roof so that we can avoid problems in the future. I started this blog to help others who are interested in carrying out restoration or repair work on the roof of their home.

Benefits of Prefabricated Roof Trusses

Hunter Prescott

Using timber roof trusses, typically comprising a post and a beam, is a technique used in timber construction to create the frame that offers structural support for your building. It should be noted that timber roof trusses are not a new method in construction. This technique has been around for centuries, since wood has always been a readily available material. In addition, it is one of the easiest materials to use in construction. Lastly, the buildings that are constructed using this technique are typically long lasting. However, prefabricated roof trusses are a modern take on frame trusses and bring their own set of advantages to construction. Here are some of the benefits of prefabricated roof trusses.

Prefabricated roof trusses are cost effective for construction

Prefabricated roof trusses are engineered individually. As such, the components that make up the timber trusses have been optimised to suit the design need of your construction without needing to have an additional consultation with other professionals such as an architect, which would cost more money. It should also be noted that roof truss manufacturers will optimise on the stock of timber that they have available, thus minimizing the occurrence of waste during the construction process. Lastly, there are a myriad of home designs that would be best suited to making the use of prefabricated roof trusses, thus enabling you to reduce on the overall cost of your construction project as when compared to the alternative of choosing a conventional stick built roof.

Prefabricated timber frame trusses are easy to install

There are numerous reasons why it is easier to work with prefabricated frame trusses than having your contractors build framing from scratch. For one, the trusses are delivered onto the construction site already prepped for installation, which saves a lot of time. Additionally, these frame trusses are designed in accordance to the specific construction project. This minimises the chance of any extra materials being stolen from your construction site without your knowledge. Lastly, roof truss manufacturers will provide these frames as a package deal. This is unlike conventional roof construction where your contractors may have to source materials from various different suppliers, which could influence the cost as well as schedule timelines off your project.

Prefabricated timber frame trusses are versatile

With prefabricated frame trusses, you have the freedom of design flexibility. This is because there are numerous components that can be incorporated into the design of the framing such as skylights, air conditioning systems and more without much hassle.
